We finally did it. After two years of achieving runner up in the Environmental category for the SA Blog Awards, our SOIW website was announced winner in the 2016 awards.
Thank you to all our supporters for voting for us and to our small but dedicated team for the encouragement needed in this difficult stage of our campaign.
This website is the Save our iMfolozi Wilderness Campaign’s public face and together with it’s social media components, is the chief means of communication with the South African and international public. We endeavour to do our best with a very limited budget, so this award is a welcome acknowledgement that we are on the right track.
The campaign is in a very quiet phase at present which means there is little to report. I call this the “phony war” when one has to wait and be vigilant.
The one thing that the communities have been focussed on is the proposed bridge over the Mfolozi river. The communities are opposing the bridge and view it as a” Trojan Horse” for mining. We hope to bring you more information soon.
