Website and petition launch

We managed to launch the Save our iMfolozi Wilderness website and our Avaaz petition today – 1st May 2014. The following emails were sent in solidarity and support during the past few days. We are sharing them with you to indicate the extent of the support base and the calibre of the international organisations that are opposing Ibutho Coal’s application to mine – and the numbers are mounting.

Our international supporters already include:

The Gaia Foundation in London and their extensive networks

WILD – USA, the organisation responsible for the longest running international environmental conferences – namely the World Wilderness / WILD conferences, started by Ian Player in Johannesburg, in 1973. WILD fully support the opposition to Fuleni mine and will be sending out an appeal to their far-reaching contacts and networks.

Many SA organisations have also come forward to voice their support:

The Wilderness Foundation

The Global Environmental Trust

The Wilderness Action Group

The African Conservation Trust

Sustaining the Wild Coast

The Wilderness Leadership School

The Magqubu Ntombela Foundation

The Ian Player Foundation

Earth Awareness

Game Rangers Association of Africa (GRAA)
