The Somkhele community, GET and MCEJO are honoured to have the support of retired Judge David Ntshangase.
He currently chairs the Marikana panel of experts tasked with investigating the nature of public order policing in South Africa, and the use of weaponry by security forces during protests. He lives in KwaMsane, next to Somkhele, and for the past couple of years has been advising a group of Somkhele residents in their challenges with the mine. He gave his full support to Kirsten Youens, our attorney, who explained GET/MCEJO’s legal challenges to Tendele coal mine, and he also commended the work GET is doing to support the Fuleni and Somkhele communities.
We are grateful to have the guidance of such a wise and inspiring man.
